Dr Colin Taylor completed a BSc (Hons) in Physics at the Australian National University in 1992. He went on to complete a PhD at The University of Western Australia in the area of optical frequency standards in 1997. He then accepted an Associate Lectureship with UWA's Physics Department and also spent two years with the Large-scale Cryogenic Gravitational Telescope group of the University of Tokyo.

Before joining the staff of ANU, Colin was Executive Director of Australian Science Innovations, a non-profit organisation that offers national and international programs in support of science education.

Colin's research interests have included gravitational wave detection, cryogenics, optical system engineering, precision measurement and superconductors. His other academic interests include science communication, accelerated learning, teaching management, developing the secondary school-university interface and most recently general management, with the commencement of an MBA (Executive).

Reporting to the Director, Colin is responsible for executive general management of the Fenner School.
