Thursday 31 July 1-2pm
"Engaging Visions"
Dr John Reid, Fellow, Fenner School of Environment and Society, and ANU School of Art.
"Engaging Visions" is the title of an ARC Linkage Project involving the
ANU School of Art (SoA), the ANU Centre for Public Awareness of Science
(CPAS) and the Murray-Darling Basin Commission. John Reid (Fenner/SoA)
and Dr Rod Lamberts (CPAS) are joint Chief Investigators. The
Project investigates procedures for visual artist deployment in the
field and engagement with communities.
The aim is to configure a model
procedure for cultural production and distribution that will assist:-
- basin catchment communities to maintain and enhance a responsive,
culturally supportive management of natural resources; and,
- artists to
develop innovative long-term community based creative opportunities.
The
Project outcome will underpin a partner 10-year investment plan for
creative artist and community engagement to achieve increased adoption
and accelerated up-take of environmentally sustainable practices in the
Murray Darling Basin. The seminar presentation will outline the Project,
report on its progress, refer to its foundations at ANU and canvas
prospects for further research in the Australian Capital Region.
The Fenner School Seminar Series in 2008 is held in the Forestry Lecture Theatre
Forestry Building 48, Linneaus Way (comes off Daley Road), ANU (Acton) campus, ACT
The seminar will start at 13:00 and finish at 14:00
