The integration of in inventory and scheduling systems to improve forest operations
Professor Kevin Boston, Forest Engineering, Resources and Management, Oregon State University
Abstract
Much of the work in value recovery has focused on the manufacturing phase of value recovery. Little attention has been paid to determine the other sources of value loss that include losses due to marketing and scheduling inefficiencies. This talk describes an ongoing project to reduce these losses that include several different applications to incorporated improved estimates of inventory into the operational scheduling programs.
Bio
| Kevin Boston is an associate professor in the department of forest engineering and resource management at Oregon State University. He holds B.S. in Forestry from Humboldt State University and Masters of Forestry and PhD from Oregon State University. He is a licensed as both forester in California and a professional logging engineer in Oregon. He has a variety of commercial and academic appointment throughout the US and New Zealand. Additionally, he has done a significant amount of consulting work in Canada and South America. He currently has research project in operations planning, biomass harvesting and road construction practice . |
